“Trek4Mandela is an annual expedition to summit Africa’s highest peak on Mandela Day, 18 July. Trek4Mandela brings together inspired individuals from corporate and public backgrounds to assist in raising funds and creating awareness for the Caring4Girls programme. Research has revealed that girls from poor backgrounds could miss up to 50 days of school each year due to menstrual related challenges. According to UNICEF girls’ education and empowerment literally saves millions of lives. More educated women tend to be healthier, work and earn more income, have fewer children, and provide better health care and education to their children.” – Imbumba Foundation, Trek 4 Mandela
Helping with a cause I care about deeply was so rewarding. I assisted in collecting sanitary pads through donations from kind hearts all over.
As empowering women and lifting up young girls is a passion of mine, I was more than grateful to be a part of this life-changing experience. Not only did it help me give back, it also changed me mentally and physically.
I especially felt moved by everyone I met. We trained together to summit Kilimanjaro and through that team building we grew as a family. We were making a difference!
Getting there took all the strength in me, but I knew this was bigger than me.
With enough publicity we managed to help so many girls.
